![]() So, there's just one sfx which is producing a rasp-like sound when it's initiated for the first time, the second time it plays it plays fine, which again is slightly odd as I would expect it to do the same thing every call, which it isn't doing. I've got my sfx located at $a000 and nothing else comes anywhere near them. There's nothing in my code that writes to the zeropage registers - of course I can cross-check that further at some point, but I would imagine it would affect all my SFX if it was the case and not just one or two. I think I can definitely rule out your 2nd and 3rd guesses. This is odd, as it never happened when a blank song was playing - so I'm not sure I fully understand why Goattracker replays it differently when a subtune is present but not even playing! ![]() However, after my last response I did a little more digging around and managed to correct one of the sfx playing issues just by amending the final note to be a lower pitch. Yeah, maybe the term tempo has put me off track a little. To really help it would be necessary to take a look at the sfx, code and SNG of course. accidentally writing to RAM areas of the tune or sfx accidentally writing to GoatTracker zeropage registers The error is probably to be found elsewhere. It is most likely just a coincidence some sfx don't work anymore after changing the tune. I think it's easier to imagine it as "notelength per bar". The term "tempo" may be a bit misleading here. The warning about using 03 as "tempo" is because with a hard restart of 2 frames there is only 1 frame left for the actual note if the next bar also has a note (without glide). The "tempo" setting doesn't apply to sound effects. If anyone has come across the issue and knows what it could be please let me know. The puzzling thing is that it only appears to affect 2 or3 of the sounds and not all of them, at least - not that I can notice audibly. I have also explored an issue of raster-time, but I've got plenty floating around, so it's not that. I also tried switching off the Disable Optimisation feature - again no success.īefore I playback my sounds, I always save A, X and Y and restore them once playback is finished as I just save the risk of any of them being trashed. I'm not sure what this could be, that's why I thought I would ask here. It's as if some of the sounds are now have either a high-pitch chirp or a raspy sound on playback at the beginning or end. Taking off the PO option did have some effect, but not entirely resolve the issue. I even set the blank tune to play at a slower tempo of 07. Now, I read a few comments in the Goattracker docs about playback at 03 speeds, but to retest I took out all of my tempo commands and this did not resolve the issue. This is when I noticed some of the sounds, playing slightly differently. Then in the last few days I added a subtune. My previous videos on my youtube page have the sound working fine. ![]() No tempo was set, it's just a blank pattern. I have a blank tune, which is running fine and the sfx playback without issue. Initially my sfx playback have been fine. I wasn't sure if this was to do with speed playback or not, but I will try to describe at best the issue. Just come across a new issue in the last couple of days since I've started adding music into my Christmas game with Goattracker.
